Hickory Lake Ranch is located in Batavia, Ohio a suburb of Cincinnati, OH (delivering to anywhere in the United States!) and has a partner ranch and training academy located in Minnesota. We specialize in offering the public horses of all breeds, sizes and colors that have been extensively trained for an unwavering foundation of control, sound mind and quiet confidence.

Our program has existed solely for the training and placement of Mounted Patrol, Search & Rescue and Therapy horses until 2007 when we opened our sales barn in Ohio to offer the same great horses to the general public.

We hand select horses to bring into our program and work with them using our very unique teaching and training methods. Each horse that is chosen is put through an extensive training program at our training facility and ranch in Minnesota and then brought back here to us at Hickory Lake where they continue their training and prepping for their new home and family until they are sold.

Every horse has different strengths and we work very hard to build on those and correct and strengthen any weaknesses they may have to make them a better all around partner for you. Our ultimate goal is to pair each of our horses with the right rider so that they can form a perfect partnership. Not every horse we offer is a great beginner horse and not every horse we offer would appeal to the needs of an advanced rider. We do our best to keep a variety of energy levels and athleticism with our horses so we can have a little something for everyone!

By doing this each recruit learns trust, control, patience and calmness. It is during this training that they also become confident and willing partners for their riders. (you can learn more about their specific training by going to the For Sale page)

Trained to be disciplined and trusting in every situation, your horse from Hickory Lake Ranch is started with the right foundation work so that you can concentrate on beginning the specific training for your discipline of choice. We want our horses training and teachability to ensure them a long life of security and love!

Before our horses are placed in their new homes they are all seen by Dr. McFadden, DVM of the Lebanon Equine Clinic to be brought up to date on all vaccinations, etc. and our Farrier for proper hoof care. Dr. McFadden is always happy to speak to anyone who is interested in purchasing one of our horses. All of our horses are sold guaranteed sound and will have a current negative Coggins report.
